Rachel Nichols, American journalist, and sportscaster

Rachel Nichols is an American sportscaster, best known for her work with the ESPN program SportsCenter and her own show Unscripted, which she co-hosts with former NBA player Jalen Rose. She has also worked as a reporter for ESPN and ABC News. Nichols was born in Long Beach, California. She is a graduate of UCLA.

Rachel first job was at the University of Texas at Austin, covering women’s basketball in 1996 and 1997. In 1999 she became the sideline reporter for the television broadcasts of the 1999 Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament (also known as “The Big Dance“). In 2000 she became a sideline reporter for CBS Sports Network’s coverage of college basketball, including the 2000 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament and 2005 NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament. Nichols joined ESPN in 2001 as a sideline reporter for football games on ESPN2 and has been a prominent fixture on SportsCenter ever since. Her duties include hosting an interview segment called “Unscripted,” co-hosting “SportsNation” with Jalen Rose from time to time, and reporting from various sporting events around the country.
